Consortium
Consortium
The Roma DOC Consortium aims to enhance and protect the territory and the wine produced in a specific area within the province of Rome.
The guarantee of quality for the consumer lies in the production regulations.
Within it, the boundaries are defined where Roma DOC wines can be produced; an ideal area, predominantly of volcanic origin, where the vine thrives best.
The yield limits of the vine in the vineyard and the grapes in the wine are defined, thus ensuring quality wines. The three main grapes of Roma DOC wines are identified: Malvasia Puntinata and Bellone for the whites, two indigenous varieties of the area; Montepulciano for the reds, which has been established in the region for decades.
The production regulations also emphasize the deep connection between Rome and the Romans in the history of viticulture and winemaking.
